About our emblem: Smooth Wild rose (Rosa Blanda)

This species is common throughout southern Ontario northward to the Boreal Forest Region. The floral bracts, stipules and leaf rachis are often not conspicuously glandular, and the plants are unarmed, or with prickles on only the oldest lowermost branches. Pink flowers, about 7 cm across appear in late May and June. The wild rose has been the society emblem since its introduction in 1921. The original was hand drawn and recently updated while retaining its original character.
